Jason Garcia | Project Return Peer Support Network

Jason Garcia is the Director of Workforce Development. Jason has a B.A. Degree from San Jose State University and a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist Certificate from Jump Start, MHALA.

He has worked at PRPSN for 7.5 years in a variety of roles; first as an Employment Specialist, Training Coordinator, Program Coordinator, Training Manager and now his current position. Before coming to PRPSN Jason was a Job Placement Coordinator, Case Manager, Peer Mentor, and Group Facilitator. He is an Honest Open Proud Master Trainer, Core Gift Master Trainer, Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Suicide Prevention (QPR) Trainer, and Certified Anger Management Instructor. Jason sits on the Re-entry Health Advisory Collaborative and the LAC-DMH Peer Advisory Council. What Jason likes about working at Project Return, is the camaraderie and shared mission amongst staff. He appreciates the lack of stigma and acceptance that permeates the workplace.

To Jason, peer support means a willingness to join someone in their darkest moments and collaboratively find a way out. He firmly believes that recovery is possible for anyone and everyone. He values equality, recognizing that everyone has a purpose, reason, and meaning for their lives. Jason's favorite quote, "Happiness shared is doubled, troubles shared are halved," reflects his belief in the power of human connection and support. When he's not at work, Jason enjoys spending time with his cats, riding his bike, reading, singing, dancing, and being with family and friends.
