Un Paso Mas provides linguistically and culturally appropriate mental health and educational services to underserved communities in the cities of Huntington Park, Bell, Bell Gardens, South Gate, Maywood, Vernon, Cudahy and Hawaiian Gardens. Each week support groups are offered to individuals with loved ones that experience mental illness. Topics include but are not limited to: groups for couples who are on the verge of divorce, parenting, occupational therapy, support groups, and physical beautification for better self-esteem. These groups create an invaluable space to share, empathize, exchange ideas and support one another.
Several workshops are held throughout the year to offer specific coping tools, communication skills, and resources in an effort to empower family members to help their loved ones living with mental illness.
Communities Organized for Resource Enhancement (CORE) is a networking group started by Un Paso Mas. CORE brings together mental health, health, education and other community service providers to work toward extending resources and referrals to the Latino community. The Information and Assistance component of Un Paso Mas provides confidential help in Spanish and English to individuals and families seeking help in finding mental health care.
